Checkups / Cleanings

Routine Preventive Visits

Dental care has to be personalized because every patient’s dental health needs evolve over time. However, the one thing that remains the same for everyone is the need to attend regular dental checkup and cleaning appointments as often as the dentist recommends. These visits help ensure that harmful plaque and tartar don’t remain in the oral cavity long enough to cause tooth decay, gum disease, and other complications.

Monitoring and Maintaining Excellent Oral Health

Your routine exam and cleaning visit is essential in that if a problem does develop, your dentist will be able to detect it and treat it in its earliest stages to limit the condition’s effect on the rest of your oral health. We can also monitor your health in this way as well. Typically, your dentist will recommend you attend an examination and cleaning appointment at least once every six months, or twice annually.

During your visit, your hygienist will carefully but thoroughly clean away all the traces of plaque and tartar that are present on your teeth and gum line, as these contain harmful oral bacteria. This will prevent any bacteria from eroding your tooth enamel and structure or inflaming your gum tissues, which could lead to cavities and gum disease, respectively. Your dentist will also perform a visual examination to check for signs of concern such as weak tooth enamel, irritated or discolored oral tissues, concerns with your bite alignment, and more.
