Designing and creating a customized porcelain restoration, such as a dental crown, traditionally takes several weeks. However, instead of sending your tooth’s measurements and requirements to an off-site lab to create your crown, we can do it all in-house thanks to advanced CEREC technology. By capturing your dental measurements and sending them to our on-site milling machine, we can create, place, and secure your custom crown in a single day.
A Closer Look at CEREC Technology
CEREC, which stands for Chairside Economical Restoration of Esthetic Ceramics, is a dental technology that utilizes computer-aided design and manufacturing to create dental restorations. A special camera is used to take highly-detailed digital images of your tooth and dental ridges, then the image is converted to a 3D model. The restoration is designed using computer software, and once this is complete, the milling machine will begin to carve the crown from a porcelain ceramic block.
Dental porcelain offers the added benefit of a lifelike finish, as it closely resembles the natural appearance and gloss of teeth.
