Dentures

If you have lost all of your natural teeth due to injury, periodontal disease or decay, dentures can be made to replace them. Replacing missing teeth will not only restore your smile, they will benefit your health. Without the support from the denture, facial muscles sag, making you look older. Dentures will improve your ability to eat and speak.

If you need an upper or lower denture, the dentist will remove any remaining, unrestorable teeth you may have. An immediate complete denture is inserted as soon as the remaining teeth are removed. With an immediate denture, you do not have to be without teeth during the healing period. A conventional denture requires that the tissues heal first, which can take several weeks or months.

Even if you wear full dentures, you still need to take care of your mouth. Brush your gums, tongue and palate every morning with a soft-bristled brush before you insert your dentures to stimulate circulation in your tissues and help remove plaque.
